Introduction
Introduction
Start by clicking the status bar icon, the Options item on the SyncPlaces menu or the toolbar button:
If you are a first time user, a wizard will guide you through the initial set up of SyncPlaces. When it finishes it will open a browser tab to the Use page to help you use SyncPlaces.
If you have migrated from an older version, you may be directed to a Migration page detailing any new changes that may affect you.
Actions
On the Actions dialog, clicking the Send button will send your bookmarks and (optionally) passwords to your server. (Note that if you have the Send safely option turned on then it will do a receive and merge before the send). The 'Last sent' and 'Last received' timestamps will be updated each time you physically send or receive anything.

Click the Receive button to download your bookmarks/passwords from your server to your browser and merge them with your existing ones.

When receiving your bookmarks and passwords are automatically saved before any changes are applied to them. So you can easily restore them using the Restore button. You can also use the Backup button to take a manual backup at any time, and restore this backup using the Restore button:

You can export your bookmarks into a local XBEL formatted file or import an existing XBEL file. Any valid XBEL file may be imported as long as it is in UTF-8 format. XBEL files from older/other bookmark synchronisers should import just fine. Also you can make use of the 'Select folder to synchronise' option to export/import a single folder. Note that when importing your bookmarks are merged in unless the merge option is explicitly disabled (although the merge deletes option is always ignored).

Finally you can access all the options set by the wizard (and more) using the Options button at the bottom of the dialog
